Dr. T. H. Syed joined ISM, Dhanbad as an Assistant Professor in 2008. After finishing his Ph.D. he continued as post-doctoral researcher for a year at the University of California-Irvine. During this period he focused on the computation of global terrestrial freshwater outflow, utilizing various remote-sensing platforms, and on the attribution of trends in the computed estimates.
Specialization |
Surface hydrology, hydroclimatology and remote sensing of global and terrestrial hydrologic cycle. |
Research Interest |
My interests span a variety of hydrology, water resources and climate-related topics with particular emphasis on large-scale water balance, surface and groundwater variations, global hydrologic cycle, climatic impacts on water availability and land-ocean-atmosphere interactions. Current research activities include characterization and quantification of freshwater exchanges amongst the different components of the Earth system; remote sensing of land water storage; and investigations on the role of hydrologic and atmospheric processes that govern the water cycle over a spectrum of spatial and temporal scales. |

Dr. S.Sarangi joined ISM, Dhanbad as an Assistant Professor in 2009. After finishing his M.Sc.Tech (1994) and Ph.D.(2000) at ISM-Dhanbad he worked for a period nearly three years (2000-2003) as CSIR-RA in the Geochronology Division of National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad. During this period he under the guidance of Prof (Dr) K. Gopalan, emeritus Scientist he developed Pb-Pb dating technique of sedimentary and metamorphic carbonates. After that he worked as a Geologist (Group-A, UPSC batch 2000) in Geological Survey of India from 2003 to 2009 (2003-2006: STM, OP AP, GSI-SR, Hyderabad; 2006-2009: Stable Isotope Division, PPOD Lab, AMSE Wing, GSI-Bangalore) before returning to his alma mater as a faculty. During his Hyderabad tenure he has carried out Specialised Thematic Mapping (750 Sq Km) of granitoids occurring south of Veligallu Schist Belt along with his other colleagues. In this work an he has reported a 2.5km long an souther extension of Veligallu Schist belt.

Specialization |
Stable isotope geochemistry (sedimentary carbonates); Geochronology (Pb-Pb dating of sedimentary and metamorphic carbonates) |
Research Interest |
My research interests span stable isotope and geochemical studies of sedimentary and hydrothermal carbonates and Pb-Pb dating of sedimentary and metamorphic carbonates.
Current research activities include C, O and S –isotope studies of quartz carbonate veins associated with Archaean orogenic gold deposits of Ajjanahalli and Gadag, Chitradurga Schist Belt, Dharwar Craton, India.
