Prof. Ranjit Kumar Upadhyay is an Applied Mathematician with 20 years of experience in modeling of natural phenomena and chaotic dynamics in ecology. Prof. Upadhyay has excellent academic career. His research interests are Chaotic Dynamics of real world situations in areas such as Population dynamics for marine and terrestrial ecosystems, Disease Dynamics, Reaction-diffusion modeling, Environmental modeling and Dynamical systems theory. He has over 55 scientific research publications in different International Journals of high repute (mostly after joining ISM, Dhanbad) and in International/National Conference Proceedings. So far his published work deals mainly with the development of new mathematical models, new methods or methodology for the analysis of models and for the computation of bifurcations and spatiotemporal patterns and their application to ecological and environmental problems. The Simulation techniques that he has designed to study ecological models represent a toolkit that can be applied to patterning in a wide range of other models from different fields of cyclic nature. The high point of his research career is the invited review articles which have been published in International journal of Bifurcation and chaos. His works have received many citations in many reputed international journals. Prof. Upadhyay has also worked on a number of real-life problems like modeling the spread of bird flu and predicting its outbreak diversity, an eco-epidemiological problem of Salton Sea, Plankton Ecology, Modeling spatiotemporal dynamics of vole population in Europe and America.
Prof. Upadhyay has handled a number of sponsored R&D and consultancy projects. He had received Fast Track Young Scientist research Award from DST; Post Doctoral Fellowship in the program of Non-linear dynamics and chaos modeling for Biological systems, HUST, Wuhan, P. R. China; Visiting Scientist to ISI, Kolkata; JNC, Bangalore and Visiting Research Fellow from UGC under Indo-Hungarian Educational exchange programme at Eötvös University, Budapest, Hungary. Prof. Upadhyay has given several invited talks. He is collaborating with many research groups in India and abroad.
